Energy Geoscience and Engineering Lab

exploring mechanics and fluid flow in the subsurface

About us

Our research focuses on understanding the mechanics and physics of geological materials and their role in energy and environmental systems. We combine laboratory experiments, field observations, and mathematical and numerical modeling to investigate physical processes across scales –from the behavior of rocks, sediments, and fluids at the laboratory scale to their implications for geological systems. Our work lies at the intersection of geoscience and geotechnical engineering, with applications in areas such as subsurface energy recovery, storage, and other emerging subsurface technologies.
